the streets...
Over the past couple of weeks, i have realised that i have become somehow obsessed with the kind of fashion that goes on in the streets. I have literally been on a hundred blogs and sites doing my research on what others percieve to be "street fashion". It was such a breath of fresh air seeing what people think about fashion, be it on the streets or the runway. It really is an amazing experience to read the stories of these individuals. These images are just what i would love to see happening in the streets of Jo'burg. These images have somehow reminded me why i fell in love with fashion to begin with. Fashion that is about functionability, comfort and transformation. Isn't that what fashion is about? Stepping it up and revolutionising the "norms" and "conformities"? I think it is...

A PRECIOUS JEWEL OF OUR TIME...
Some had labelled her "Queen of cheap" amd some just saw her as a leader of the BWS Movement (you will know what BWS is if u read this blog as often as u should. Refer to blog "COLOUR BLOK-KINGS and QUEENS). However, one thing for sure, cheap or not, this woman fuelled her own fashion revolution.
the "X" factor...
For a long time some have seen Malcolm X as a symbol of freedom and hope. For me, however, he was all of this and more but i think that at the same time, Malcolm was starting a revolution that even perhaps HE was not aware of. FASHION!!!
'a fashion that does not reach the streets, is not a fashion"- Coco Chanel
I met the woman in the blue dress at a party in Newtown over the weekend. For most of the night i stared at this lady like my last breath depended on it. I picked up that her male friend was not really impresses by my stares. I still could not help it. It was the most beautiful bohemian ensemble I had seen in a while. So, to put the poor guy's heart at ease, I ended up having to over compensate on my flamboyance. The guy finally got the hint. Phew!!
I walked over to this lady and introduced myself and asked if i could take a picture of her. She was more that happy to oblidge. Still, she could not have been as delighted as i was. It is little things like these that inspire me to keep doing what i do. The fact that people are starting to warm up to the idea of actually not having to conform to the "norms" of society inflicted fashion is delightful. This woman was the highlight of my weekend. Thank u very much lady. You certainly have been an inspiration to me.#ForTheLoveOfFashion!
STEPPING IT UP....
My mother had always told me that there is nothing that speaks volumes about your manhood (or lack thereof) like your shoes your belt. Of course along the way, i made rules of my own and discovered things that took more priority over others. But, however, the shoe and belt thing also became a huge part of my reality. I have always been a sneakers kind of person but these days, by some power of some force, that is slowly becoming a thing of the past. Over the last year or so i have been trying to maintain my resistence from the shoe bug but that, my dear friends, is proving to be a losing (or lost) battle. I have this increasing obsession over shoes and part of me is not even sure if i want to keep resisting. Putting on a good pair of shoes has proved to me more orgasmic than any sexual escapade known to me. Could i be crossing over to the dark side maybe???
